Someday by Justin Bieber

This is too good not to write about. A teenage boy, Justin Bieber to be exact, is launching a perfume for women. However, let's be honest here and say that this is not a scent that is aimed at grown women. They'll be only one age group buying this scent and that would be the 11-18 year old girls around the world who swoon at the mere mention of Bieber's name. If someone had asked us to invest in this project we would have jumped at the chance. Just imagine the possibilities! Justin Bieber is 17 year's of age and would most likely be voted in as the next American President if teenagers had the right to vote. There is no end in sight for this pint sized superstar. A few people are already throwing $30 million around as the numbers for the first year in sales for this new Bieber scent!

Bieber recently did a pretty good job summing up the motivation behind his scent when he spoke to WWD: “Let’s be real, the way a girl smells is very important to a guy! I have such a deep connection with my fans, so creating a fragrance that I personally love is another way I can bring them closer to my world." And before you roll your eyes here it's important you know that

Bieber is actually arranging for the proceeds to go to a number of different charities.
For those interested in grabbing a bottle, you can expect to find them in stores in the USA this June. Cost will range from $35 to $55. You can also invest your cash in a hair mist, $20, or body lotion, $25

Kate is now wearing another McQueen dress for dinner

Kate Middleton (now officially Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge) changed into anotherdress by McQueen's Sarah Burton for the post-wedding evening party at Buckingham Palace. Dress No. 2 is strapless, made of plain satin gazar, and nipped at the waist with a diamante embroidered band. Perhaps chilly, Kate's also wearing a white angora bolero cardigan, which looks poised to shed white fluff all over William's crisp black tux.

Hosted by Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, the party includes 300 guests and reportedly has an informal "disco" theme. A highlight of the evening will undoubtedly be Prince Harry's toast to the couple, which is expected to be scandalous (and hopefully booze-fueled). The couple will spend their first night together as newlyweds in the palace. The Queen, meanwhile, has departed for a private weekend at an undisclosed location so that the youngsters can be as rowdy as they please. (NY Mag)

Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen ruled the day, dressing the new Duchess of Cambridge, nee Kate Middleton, in a second dress, for the evening wedding celebrations. Clarence House confirmed that she wore a cream gown with a knit cardigan and a silvery belt. The dress recalled the gown the bride wore earlier in the day. Prince William, now Duke of Cambridge, wore black tie — from his closet. (WWD)

Royal Wedding!!

ROYAL WEDDING
Prince William & Kate Middleton
Kate MIddleton was married to Prince William today in a white gown by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. According to a release from Clarence House:

“The lace applique for the bodice and skirt was handmade by the Royal School of Needlework, with individual flowers hand-cut from lace (in shapes of roses, thistle, daffodils and shamrocks). The dress is made of ivory and white satin gazar with a skirt in the shape of an opening flower. The satin bodice, narrowed at the waist and padded at the hips in a McQueen signature, is based on Victorian corsetry. The back is finished with 58 gazar and organza covered buttons.

The veil, made of ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers, is held in place by a 1936 Cartier tiara, lent to Ms. Middleton by the Queen. (It was bought for her mother by the Duke of York and presented to Queen Elizabeth on her 18th birthday.) Ms. Middleton’s earrings—shaped like oak leaves with a pave set diamond acorn suspended in the center—are by Robinson Pelham. The shoes are also by McQueen.”

What Designer Think About The Dress?

"I am delighted that the dress represents the best of British craftsmanship. Alexander McQueen's designs are all about bringing contrasts together to create startling and beautiful clothes and I hope that by marrying traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design we have created a beautiful dress for Catherine on her wedding day . Catherine looked absolutely stunning today, and the team at Alexander McQueen are very proud of what we have created." Sarah Burton

"She is very elegant. The dress is classic and goes very well in the Westminster decor. It almost reminds me of (Queen) Elizabeth's wedding, the royal weddings in the Fifties. The proportion of the train is good. The lace is very pretty. I like the veil a lot." Karl Lagerfeld .

"I like the dress very much, simpler than expected: a combination just in between 1956 Grace Kelly and 1947 Queen Elizabeth dress. I love the modest veil with the Queen Mother's Thirties scroll tiara and balanced volume of the whole gown. She's radiant; she never was so beautiful." Christian Lacroix

"The veil is a little flat, but because she has such a lovely face, she can afford to wear it this way. She is very pretty."Hubert de Givenchy.

"McQueen was a brilliant choice. The choice of the label and the style of the dress was a very clever mix between edgy fashion and tradition - all in a very British way. You could see references to Grace Kelly or Queen Elizabeth's dresses, but in a simpler, more modern way. I loved her hair down. It looked perfectly natural and noble. Truly royal." Antonio Marras of Kenzo .

"Very much in a royal tradition, reminiscent of Queen Elizabeth's - and a little bit Grace Kelly. She looks happy, radiant and natural." Peter Copping of Nina Ricci .

“The dress was absolutely perfect for her. The important thing was that she looked as though she felt very comfortable and moved very well in it. The dress didn’t move. I loved the long sleeves, the lace, the short veil with the little tiara and her hair. If I have to rate her from one to 10, I give her an 11. It was beyond.” Carolina Herrera

“The dress was extremely elegant. For me, it wasn’t so much about the dress though, it was all about her. She was the most beautiful bride in the world.” Donna Karan

“The fit was amazing. It looked like it was second skin the way the lace layed so well. I was really impressed. It’s funny in Sarah Burton’s fall show for McQueen, she had five or six dresses at the end. I remember thinking, ‘What’s that about?’ The wedding must have been in the back of her mind.” Nicole Miller

“The dress was beautiful. I think she is irresistible, she is so beautiful. I am happy it was McQueen. It was absolutely the right thing to do. They made [the dress] simple, so it wasn’t costumey but a beautiful evening gown. I was happy for Sarah, happy for the Met, and happy for McQueen. Diane Von Furstenberg

“This was great for Sarah Burton, and whether it was intentional or accidental, everything worked. It is amazing and wonderful for someone who does not usually do wedding dresses to show such restraint. The dress was cut beautifully, in a subdued way. I found the fitted lace bodice and the fairly large skirt, without tiers or technical draping, just right — a modern version of a tradition that will never be outdated. I would have preferred a closed neckline, however. To me, the veil, often an afterthought, is as important as the dress. Kate’s was perfect — not decorated, trimmed or gathered. And because the blusher had no volume, no wrinkles were over the face. It added mystery and allowed the bride to arrive covered and leave with her face framed. I did not think she would go fashion-forward but rather to send a message far beyond fashion: [William and Kate] want to be taken seriously; they know they will become the King and Queen of England and are up to the job of embracing everything that comes with the monarchy. And with that, naturally, there had to be some pomp and circumstance — but it was all with great dignity and discipline, reflecting the British culture. Yet it was so romantic and seemed to reflect their love for, and future with, one another.” Vera Wang

Is Carine Roitfeld Designing Her won Label?

OK, so we have absolutely no reason to believe that Carine Roitfeld is designing an eponymous line aside from this photo of a garment with a Carine Roitfeld tag that was tweeted by someone named Amber Atherton (Bio: Young Business Woman. Relentless Opportunist, Restless Optimist) which has since ended up on Fashin. The forum and I Want to Be a Roitfeld blog both point out that on the same day that Atherton tweeted said photo, Derek Blasberg tweeted a photo of Carine Roitfeld, hairstylist Luigi Murenu, and photographer Iango Henzi at the Wolseley in London. I Want to Be a Roitfeld suggests (or wishes) that they could be “already working on the lookbook for the premiere CR collection.”

Could it be that one of the many freelance projects Roitfeld has taken on since leaving Vogue Paris is designing her own line? Fingers crossed.

Check out the photo that Blasberg tweeted of Roitfeld, Murenu and Henzi after the jump.

Kate Middleton's Dress Designer Revealed

Another day closer to the royal wedding, and yet another name is floated as the designer of Kate Middleton’s all-important wedding dress.

We’ve heard Sarah Burton for McQueen, Bruce Oldfield (a favorite of Princess Diana) and the latest name to be mentioned in contention for the prized commission is Jasper Conran. And now, a new name to add to the mix: Sophie Cranston, designer of the Libélula label.

Yvonne York, Huffington Post’s royal’s correspondent, is reporting that Sophie Cranston has designed Kate Middleton’s wedding dress. Middleton famously wore a vintage-inspired black velvet coat by Libélula to a wedding this past January.

So why haven’t we heard Cranston’s name until now? “Through my insider sources, I’ve heard who was designing Catherine’s wedding dress four months ago but kept it a secret in accordance with palace wishes,” York writes. “A St. James’s Palace spokesperson I talked to won’t confirm or deny that Cranston had been selected, only saying, ‘We are not being drawn on any speculation on the wedding and cannot comment.’”

“From what I’ve uncovered,” York continues, “the reason the palace did not announce the designer’s name (as they did with the Emanuels who were confirmed just one month after Diana’s engagement) was to protect Cranston and her family from media scrutiny for as long as possible, and to allow her the freedom to create the wedding gown of Catherine’s dreams without additional pressures and distractions.”

And according to more reports out today, the design won’t be purely Cranston’s as Middleton herself has had a hand in the design. The Daily Mail is reporting that Middleton designed the dress almost entirely herself with Cranston serving merely as the dress maker. The dress is reportedly inspired by Renaissance art, which Middleton studied in Florence during her gap year. The Mail claims that the dress itself will be ivory satin and lace, with a pearl button detail and a 10ft train.

Cranston, 34, worked at Alexander McQueen and Temperley before starting her own label in 2002. In 1999 she won London’s Designer of the Year Award at Graduate Fashion Week. Click through to see some looks from Cranston’s fall 2011 collection for Libélula. http://fashionista.com/2011/04/report-kate-middletons-dress-designer-revealed/

Fashion's Night Out 2011 Will happen September!!

Fashion’s Night Out details have begun trickling in, and we like what what we’re hearing: FNO 2011 will take place on September 8, 2011, which is a Thursday. If you don’t like leaving the house after 7pm–we relate!–online retailers will have the chance to participate as well. These virtual events are also great for those without FNO in their area. Vogue editors and other girls-about-town will be creating custom sets for Polyvore in the countdown to FNR. (The promotion begins August 15.) We can’t wait to see MMB’s. Anna‘s still incredibly excited about it all, so you should be too. “We’ve come a long way in three years, and thankfully, the fashion industry is much healthier than when we started in 2009, but it could always be better,” she said in a statement. “We’re very proud of the excitement and level of traffic the initiative has inspired over the last two years, and we are eager to see the kinds of events retailers will create to turn all that wonderful enthusiasm into even greater sales this year. Retailers, take note: The deadline for Fashion’s Night Out collection wholesale orders is April 26, 2011.

Hilary Alexander to leave the Telegraph this summer!

This June the fashion industry is due to lose a true institution when one of its longest serving, most easily identified individuals retires. No, it’s not Karl Lagerfeld, silly! It’s Hilary Alexander of the Telegraph. You can scarcely be a fan of fashion without having seen her about, even if you didn’t know who she was. There she is, in the Valentino documentary, asking the walnut-coloured designer if he ever wanted to be a fireman when he was a little boy, there she is on numerous FROWs, even at shows where there was no front row, like Alexander McQueen’s posthumous Angels and Demons collection where you can see her face reflected in the mirrors behind the models. She has been working at the Telegraph for 25 years; she started working there as Fashion Editor in January 1985, then became Fashion Director in January 2005 - and rarely does Grazia Daily attend an event from high end to East end (of London) that Ms Alexander does not make an appearance at. (She clearly has a good driver – or a clone!) Here we salute Hilary in our pictorial tribute, where you can see her with a variety of her friends in high places, not to mention marvel at her extraordinary taste in headgear. Her replacement – the very talented Lisa Armstrong (currently at the Times) will start in July.

Carine Roitfeld & Karl Lagerfeld !!

Carine Roitfeld, everyone’s favourite former editor in chief of French Vogue, has apparently just finished shooting Chanel’s next A/W '11 campaign with Unkle Karl Lagerfeld and Freja Beha Erichsen. We wonder what theme they went for? We already know that it won’t be anything too rude because Carine has publically announced her retirement from the world of ‘porno chic’. From now on, her approach will be dramatically different. Karl’s vision this season was one of two themes – a smouldering apocalypse and also jumpsuits/boilersuits. What will Carine’s twist on that be? Well, to us, neither of those seem to lend themselves to filthy, greasy nakedness. On the other hand, it would fit ideally with her kind of savage, bloodstained "arty" shots. What will the pair come up with? We SIMPLY can’t wait to find out!

Thank You : Grazia

Oscar de la Renta launches First Fragrance!!

Storied American fashion house Oscar de la Renta might be known for outfitting ladies who lunch, but it’s also got a tight hold on ladies who read Twitter at lunch. You can thank @OscarPRGirl, the brand’s Twitter ambassador, for that. In recent months Oscar has further delved into social media, setting up a Tumblr and attracting nearly 120,000 followers on Facebook. Now, to launch its first fragrance in 10 years, Esprit d’Oscar, ODLR has created a gorgeous Facebook campaign that allows fans to sign up for a free sample of the new scent, which hits beauty counters in two weeks. (All you have to to do is “Like” ODLR to gain access to the offer.) The fragrance is a modern take on the house’s first-ever fragrance, which launched in 1977. And it’s particularly important for the brand, given that it’s the first scent introduced since the house bought back its fragrance license in January 2010. This is an unprecedented approach to a fragrance launch, and we love it. ODLR is treating its new fan base to something special and undeniably exclusive–we’re sure plenty of them will be buying the bottle a fortnight from now. Until then, you can occupy yourself with this lovely little video documenting the backstage goings-on at Oscar’s fall show.
