Kate is now wearing another McQueen dress for dinner
Royal Wedding!!
“The fit was amazing. It looked like it was second skin the way the lace layed so well. I was really impressed. It’s funny in Sarah Burton’s fall show for McQueen, she had five or six dresses at the end. I remember thinking, ‘What’s that about?’ The wedding must have been in the back of her mind.” Nicole Miller
“The dress was beautiful. I think she is irresistible, she is so beautiful. I am happy it was McQueen. It was absolutely the right thing to do. They made [the dress] simple, so it wasn’t costumey but a beautiful evening gown. I was happy for Sarah, happy for the Met, and happy for McQueen. Diane Von Furstenberg
“This was great for Sarah Burton, and whether it was intentional or accidental, everything worked. It is amazing and wonderful for someone who does not usually do wedding dresses to show such restraint. The dress was cut beautifully, in a subdued way. I found the fitted lace bodice and the fairly large skirt, without tiers or technical draping, just right — a modern version of a tradition that will never be outdated. I would have preferred a closed neckline, however. To me, the veil, often an afterthought, is as important as the dress. Kate’s was perfect — not decorated, trimmed or gathered. And because the blusher had no volume, no wrinkles were over the face. It added mystery and allowed the bride to arrive covered and leave with her face framed. I did not think she would go fashion-forward but rather to send a message far beyond fashion: [William and Kate] want to be taken seriously; they know they will become the King and Queen of England and are up to the job of embracing everything that comes with the monarchy. And with that, naturally, there had to be some pomp and circumstance — but it was all with great dignity and discipline, reflecting the British culture. Yet it was so romantic and seemed to reflect their love for, and future with, one another.” Vera Wang

Is Carine Roitfeld Designing Her won Label?
OK, so we have absolutely no reason to believe that Carine Roitfeld is designing an eponymous line aside from this photo of a garment with a Carine Roitfeld tag that was tweeted by someone named Amber Atherton (Bio: Young Business Woman. Relentless Opportunist, Restless Optimist) which has since ended up on Fashin. The forum and I Want to Be a Roitfeld blog both point out that on the same day that Atherton tweeted said photo, Derek Blasberg tweeted a photo of Carine Roitfeld, hairstylist Luigi Murenu, and photographer Iango Henzi at the Wolseley in London. I Want to Be a Roitfeld suggests (or wishes) that they could be “already working on the lookbook for the premiere CR collection.”
Could it be that one of the many freelance projects Roitfeld has taken on since leaving Vogue Paris is designing her own line? Fingers crossed.
Check out the photo that Blasberg tweeted of Roitfeld, Murenu and Henzi after the jump.

Kate Middleton's Dress Designer Revealed
Another day closer to the royal wedding, and yet another name is floated as the designer of Kate Middleton’s all-important wedding dress.
We’ve heard Sarah Burton for McQueen, Bruce Oldfield (a favorite of Princess Diana) and the latest name to be mentioned in contention for the prized commission is Jasper Conran. And now, a new name to add to the mix: Sophie Cranston, designer of the Libélula label.
Yvonne York, Huffington Post’s royal’s correspondent, is reporting that Sophie Cranston has designed Kate Middleton’s wedding dress. Middleton famously wore a vintage-inspired black velvet coat by Libélula to a wedding this past January.
So why haven’t we heard Cranston’s name until now? “Through my insider sources, I’ve heard who was designing Catherine’s wedding dress four months ago but kept it a secret in accordance with palace wishes,” York writes. “A St. James’s Palace spokesperson I talked to won’t confirm or deny that Cranston had been selected, only saying, ‘We are not being drawn on any speculation on the wedding and cannot comment.’”
“From what I’ve uncovered,” York continues, “the reason the palace did not announce the designer’s name (as they did with the Emanuels who were confirmed just one month after Diana’s engagement) was to protect Cranston and her family from media scrutiny for as long as possible, and to allow her the freedom to create the wedding gown of Catherine’s dreams without additional pressures and distractions.”
And according to more reports out today, the design won’t be purely Cranston’s as Middleton herself has had a hand in the design. The Daily Mail is reporting that Middleton designed the dress almost entirely herself with Cranston serving merely as the dress maker. The dress is reportedly inspired by Renaissance art, which Middleton studied in Florence during her gap year. The Mail claims that the dress itself will be ivory satin and lace, with a pearl button detail and a 10ft train.
Cranston, 34, worked at Alexander McQueen and Temperley before starting her own label in 2002. In 1999 she won London’s Designer of the Year Award at Graduate Fashion Week.
